Oklahoma NAWGJ SGB Minutes Meeting 5/24/2022

  1. Region 3 Congress
    1. 25 judges enrolled
    2. 9pm on Friday - Region 3 Judges Event
      1. We need to advertise to our judges
  2. Judges Meeting/Clinic for next season
    1. September 17th
    2. Goal is to bring someone in as a clinician
    3. Focusing on Optional Changes
      1. Discuss the info from Region 3 Congress
      2. Expand on that information as needed
    4. Schedule more time in between the testing and the clinic
      1. Judges Meeting 9-10am
      2. Clinic 10-12pm
        1. 30 minutes for each event
        2. Brittney and Alicia will use the 6/7 Vault presentation from earlier this season.
      3. Lunch 12-1pm - potentially bring in lunch.
      4. Testing 1pm and later.
  3. Tentative Testing Dates
    1. September 17th 
    2. October 8th
  4. Buddy Groups
    1. Suggested Parameters:
      1. Runs in coordination with CPE - from August to July
      2. 4 meetings - once a quarter - Zoom or In-person
      3. List of Suggestions to be given to buddy groups: 
        1. Talk through the newsletter
        2. Watch videos and judge together
        3. Discuss specific events
        4. General Deductions
        5. Special occurrences or problems at specific meets
        6. Writing of script
        7. Personal systems and techniques you use to judge
      4. Send a form once a quarter asking for feedback from buddy groups
      5. Buddy Groups changing from groups of 2 to groups of 3. 
        1. Liz and Alicia will get together to discuss the group changes
        2. Try to keep groups at similar levels if possible
        3. Send out these groups changes on June 1st
  5. May/June Newsletter
    1. No handed and spotting at 9/10 vault
  6. NJC
    1. Still no bids available. Shooting for hosting in 2025/2026.
  7. Zoo Review
    1. October 29 weekend first choice 
    2. November 5 weekend second choice
    3. Alicia will send out Zoo Review Bid Form via text and email
      1. Will send out June 1st and July 1st to be due July 15th.
    4. August 1st we send out the flyer
      1. Teresa will work with the host gym to produce the flyer
    5. Teresa has the awards and will put them together
    6. Suggestion of offering 1-7 USAG and 1-8 AAU and all X-Cels for both AAU and USAG
  8. Finances 
    1. Suggestion to start Oklahoma apparel to boost profits. Pre-orders maybe.
    2. Vote to give each judge $400 for Judges Expenses/Continuing Education
    3. Vote to say that December 31 is the cut off for spending the $400 each year
    4. Vote to say that reimbursement checks are issued after the maximum expenses have been reached. If the maximum expenses have not been reached during the year, then the reimbursement check will be issued December 31.
  9. OK NAWGJ Operating Code
    1. Motion to create on OK NAWGJ Operating Code to include various rules and policies to be easily accessible in the future. 
    2. Alicia will work on the creation of the webpage for it and the NAWGJ Board will review and add to it during the next meeting. 
  10. Next Meeting 
    1.   June 12  in person at Region 3 Congress around 4:00pmish.
